In paradise

Way too many self-pitying characters go on a two-week trip to Auschwitz in order to "bear witness" to the horror of what happened there. Really they just spend the whole time criticizing each other's reasons for being there.

Okay writing and a good, but not great, book.Not Matthiessen at his best.

This is a very thought-provoking book. It is important, so interesting,and a story written from a different angle.
